The TUNE Network, uniting 21 partner organizations across 18 European countries under the coordination of United Societies of Balkans, has successfully concluded its second online capacity-building training on July 8–9. Prepared and led by Dr. Yvonne Kosma, this intensive workshop engaged participants in Campaigning, Dissemination & Exploitation of Research Data – equipping youth workers with practical tools to transform insights into tangible change.
The first day centered on mastering data visualization for impact. Participants explored industry-standard tools like Flourish and Datawrapper, learning to convert complex datasets into compelling visual narratives. Through hands-on group exercises, attendees dissected real-world youth research – such as the correlation between heavy social media use and declining mental health – crafting data stories that highlighted critical patterns like “5+ hours of daily screen time correlating with 60% lower wellness scores.” A key focus was audience-specific adaptation, where learners practiced tailoring messages to diverse personas: from TikTok-style memes for teens to evidence-based briefs for policymakers.
Building on these foundations, the narrative shifted to campaign development through collaborative digital platforms. Using Notion’s SMART goal frameworks, participants converted research insights into targeted objectives – exemplified by goals like “Reducing teen social media consumption from 5+ to ≤3 daily hours by December 2025.” Teams then visualized campaign roadmaps on Miro’s interactive boards, mapping audience segments, key messages like “Scroll Smarter, Feel Better,” and concrete actions such as implementing phone-free school zones.
“Raw data alone can’t drive change,” participants agreed – “The true power lies in transforming evidence into relatable campaigns that shift behaviors – whether helping teens balance screen time or guiding policymakers toward digital well-being solutions.”
Representing Serbia, Greece, France, Italy, Poland, Ireland, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Spain, Cyprus, Portugal, Turkey, Romania, and Albania, participants departed equipped to visualize complex youth issues, design targeted advocacy campaigns, and leverage research for policy impact. Funded by the Erasmus+ programme and European Solidarity Corps, this training reinforces TUNE’s mission to advance youth citizenship, social inclusion, and evidence-based activism across Europe.
TUNE Network is co-funded by the EU.
