During our participation in the Erasmus+ training course in Alanya, we had the opportunity to develop important competencies related to youth work, facilitation, and non-formal education. Inspired by projects such as the Erasmus+ mobility activities organized by CET Platform, the experience focused on strengthening youth workers’ capacities through intercultural learning, teamwork, and experiential methods.
The training in Alanya brought together participants from different countries and cultural backgrounds, creating a dynamic environment for cooperation and exchange of ideas. Throughout the program, we participated in workshops, simulations, group discussions, role-playing activities, and team-building exercises. These non-formal learning methods helped me improve my communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities while understanding the importance of active participation in youth work.
One of the most valuable aspects of the project was the development of facilitation skills We learned how to design and lead interactive sessions, manage group dynamics, encourage participation, and create inclusive learning spaces where everyone felt comfortable expressing their opinions. Facilitating multicultural groups taught us the importance of empathy, adaptability, and clear communication in order to support effective collaboration and learning outcomes.
In addition, the project enhanced our confidence in public speaking and presentation skills. Working closely with other youth workers allowed us to exchange good practices and discover innovative tools that can be applied in future youth activities and workshops. The experience also strengthened our ability to work in international teams and increased my awareness of cultural diversity and European values such as solidarity, inclusion, and cooperation.
Participating in The best Eco is Umberto Eco in Alanya was both professionally and personally enriching. It motivated me to continue contributing to youth work by using non-formal education methods and facilitation techniques to empower young people in my local community. The project provided me with practical knowledge, meaningful connections, and inspiration for future international cooperation and youth initiatives.
