From the 1st to the 3rd of April, in the breathtaking wonder city of Wroclaw, we continued our adventure, started a month prior. Filled with excitement and anticipation, we couldn’t wait to see the all-too familiar faces of our European friends who we dearly missed. Along the way, we made some new friendships, inside and outside of the project, which helped us familiarize ourselves with the beautiful city center of Wroclaw, very quickly.
Because we already had our team set and ready, with little to no new faces, the feeling of unity and camaraderie was blossoming like never before. Our primary focus of the second part of the Youth Activator in Harmony was the simulation-type workshop that all 4 teams had to prepare for and organize, many of us having no experience in a facilitating role.
We were challenged to disseminate and analyze topics such as Habits and their impact on Youth’s Mental Health, Art and Creativity combined with Nature, Artificial Intelligence and Deepfakes, and Sex Education. Each of our teams was supposed to make a cohesive, efficient and structured workshop, starting with a proper energizer, an introduction to the topic, a main part of the workshop, and a finishing activity. In the 90 minutes we had, putting ourselves in the facilitator’s shoes, we learned how much mindfulness and control you have to have, how you need to lead and keep the conversation going, without being overly intrusive, and ultimately stay neutral. After every workshop, every group received a round of critiques from the actual leaders in the project, navigating us how to master the skills we acquired, and how to better ourselves in the future, if we were to ever be in the same position again.
Being introduced to Compass (Manual for Human Rights Education with Young People) and Salto, we were given the opportunity to understand youth work and the existence of Erasmus + plans of action, on a much deeper level than before. These are the guides that would help us enforce and utilize the skills and knowledge of improvisation, special awareness, body percussion, singing and dancing, outdoor activities, and ultimately transfer them to our wanted target groups. The youth is guaranteed to feel peaceful and accepted, as we are functioning in an innovative, creative and inclusive environment, meant to stimulate a successful and entertaining learning process.
