Hi, my name is Rada. I’m a 20 year old biochemistry student that recently participated in an Erasmus project called ‘Heroes of planet Earth’, which was held in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria from 8th to 17th September. Entering this project, I was a little nervous because of the fact that it was my first project of this kind. But, the second I got to meet my incredible teammates, excitement outweighed my worries. That is when the adventure begun. Firstly, the accommodation was terrific. The host organization, ‘Youth Senate of Bulgaria’, was very welcoming towards all of us. The facilitators from ‘Creative Youth Academy’ knew how to make the project entertaining and fun for every participant. The first days, we played games made for getting to know each other. Afterwards we proceeded to learn about all types of environmental issues. We learn about the EU green deal, made educational videos about it, did interviews with the locals about the environment, made figures out of recyclable waste, did sketches about how people treat nature in our countries. We also presented creative ecological solutions that are implemented in our countries, had a cleaning session around Sunny Beach and many more activities. My favorite one was our ‘Oscar night’ when we put our Hollywood abilities to the test and made eco-based movies. Thanks to ‘CET Platform’ I got to meet many amazing people from my country, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and Greece. I came home satisfied with the knowledge I gained during this project. I am grateful for this – once in a lifetime – experience and I can’t wait for the next one.

From 8th to 17th September 2023, North Macedonian team participated in youth exchange in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria on the topic “Heroes of Planet Earth”. The project was very well organized, thanks to the amazing hosting organization “Youth Senate of Bulgaria”. We stayed in a nice hotel in the center of the town, a I must say, the food was unbelievably delicious. There were participants from North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Turkiye, Romania and Greece, all in all around 50 engaged young people that want to make a change. We learnt about the environmental issues, such as climate change, loss of biodiversity, overhunting, etc. Some time was dedicated to finding out what the EU Green Deal is and what they want to achieve with it in the upcoming years. Through fun activities we tried to think of and create utopic solutions for some of the environmental issues, solutions that could work and make a positive change in out environment and society. The free time was used to explore Sunny Beach and Nesebar. Nesebar Old Town is and inviolable mixture of ancient architecture and modern novelties, a very pleasant place to spend the day. On the other side, Sunny Beach reminded me of Las Vegas, a place where everyone can find fun – amusement parks, souvenir shops, nightclubs, karaoke bars etc. All in all, the youth exchange was amazing and we are very thankful to our sending organization “CET Platforma” for giving us the chance to prove ourselves in an important project like this one.
