In the period from 18th to 24th of October, the Erasmus+ youth exchange „Learn Live Love Sustainable“ was held in Samobor, Croatia, which brought together young people from Romania, Slovakia, Macedonia and Croatia. The theme of the project was a sustainable way of thinking and the promotion of sustainable living habits among young people. Through various workshops and tools, the participants tried to think sustainably and what we can all contribute and help to nature.
During the exchange, the participants learned and discussed about volunteering, why it is important and how a volunteer action can be organized. They especially considered the importance of volunteering in the field of environmental protection and connected it with the topic of sustainability.
Participants also explored why garbage is not waste and what can be reused without being thrown away. Through creative workshops, we made flowers from old clothing items and newspapers.
In order to turn theory into practice, there was a volunteer activity of cleaning old wells in Vrhovčak. Participants had the opportunity to learn about gardening and a healthy lifestyle. We went to the orchard to pick fruit and then made delicious and healthy smoothies.
They wrote down everything they learned during the project in their sustainable diary, which is a result of the project. The participants researched various topics that interested them, presented their views and compared everything they learned during the activity. The idea behind the sustainable diary is to encourage all young people to research, learn and live sustainably.
