Association for education and training CET PLATFORMA Skopje is launching an open call for participants from Macedonia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Italy, Romania and Spain for an Erasmus+ youth exchange “Be Happy, Be a Polyglot” that will be organized in Krushevo, Macedonia from 1st to 8th of November 2022.
We go with the bold statement that the advantages of learning foreign languages can set a person up for success in nearly every aspect of their life. We recognized that young people in participating countries are facing real economic difficulties and we see the skill of being a polyglot as a way out of the unemployment cycle. We think that being a polyglot can help youngsters because basically, learning a foreign language opens a world of job opportunities. It can also open many potential career doors, not only in terms of the range of jobs but also the range of destinations to find a job abroad. Basically, being a polyglot is a great way to make yourself stand out from the competition and be more valuable to an employer. According to studies, polyglots also are better at problem-solving, more creative and are better multitaskers. All these skills are very attractive to any potential employer. Learning a foreign language and getting soaked into an entirely new culture and worldview is the surest way to become an open-minded, understanding, tolerant individual.
Seeing all these benefits, we consider that learning languages is a “must” today. With this project, we would like to show that once you learn a new language it would be easier to learn a new language, especially if it belongs to the same group of languages. By learning one Slavic or Romance language it will be easier to learn and to be able to understand the other ones.
Therefore, the main aim of the project “Be Happy, Be a Polyglot” is to bring together 37 young people and youth leaders from Macedonia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Spain, Italy and Romania in order to deconstruct the myth that learning new languages is a difficult thing to do.
