From the 11th to the 19th of September 2022, three enthusiastic and cheerful people participated in the Erasmus+ Training Course “Active citizen of tomorrow” in Krzyżowa, Poland. Young participants from Macedonia, Portugal, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Greece, and Poland, were brought together, to share their experience and views on how to become an active citizen.
We really had an amazing and joyful time and we find it very inspiring how a group of youngsters from different cultures managed to function like a family in only one week.
Like every Erasmus+ project, we started by getting to know the other participants, the facilitators and, of course, the schedule of activities and tasks for the next 10 days.
In these 10 days, we got to know the situation of young people across Europe and how to recognize the source of the problems that young people face. We learned what the levels of active citizenship are and where our place is in local communities. We explored the political rights of young people – locally and across a European perspective. We learned about examples and ways of engaging young people in fulfilling their rights. We shared examples, ideas and inspirations on how young people can exercise their rights more and what are the possible sources of civil activity. At the end, we were divided into groups and each group presented a way or an idea with which young people actively participate in the civic world.
For us, the best day was when we were divided into groups and we had to do our own workshops, and to be the newest facilitators who maybe in the future can write and organize their own projects. We had really amazing time this day, because every group had an unique and interesting way of making and implementing their workshop.
During the project, we had two free days which we used to walk and explore the two nearest cities Swidnica and Wroclaw, from which we were pleasantly surprised by their beauty, warmth and diversity. We had the amazing place “Piwnica” (disco), where we partied almost every night. We had one quiz night and one intercultural night where we presented about our country where we showed our traditional dances and songs and of course the most important, the beautiful delicious food. Learning new facts about other countries through quizzes was a great way of remembering information.
Our experience from this training course was amazing and unforgettable, so in that context we encourage you to apply for a future project of the Erasmus Plus program and learn things in very interesting ways, to develop your skills, to create long-term friendships, to create memories, and be part of the unforgettable memories of others.
