The course’s main goal was to get to know the importance of storytelling in our lives. The course was held in Gloucester in United Kingdom at the ASHA Centre, where we had daily lectures, workshops, activities, energizers and a lot of fun while at the same time we learned the importance of sharing a story.
Through a lot of different activities, we learned how to express more clearly so that people who are the listeners can understand and accept what are you saying more easily and more understandable. We had a lot of outdoor activities, where we could’ve shared our stories to the nature, to the trees, to a safe environment where we don’t have to rush with sharing our stories and without the fear of being judged of what you are going to say.
Here, I learned that a country’s history is all made of stories, real stories, myths, legends, folktales and here I found out that Macedonia is really rich country from the perspective of stories and folktales. The people here were really interested of what I have to say about my country and because our country has a lot to say about, I was really happy to share a lot of folktales, myths with them and they were really happy to hear them.
I understood the importance of this project as soon as I got home, when I saw how much impact the whole knowledge that we had there has on me on my everyday life, I am more conscious of what I am saying, of how I am saying it and I am more understandable and a better listener when someone has something to say or willing to share.
